Service: While a resident of Chester, Kent Co, MD, in April 1775, he joined a company of minute men commanded by Capt John Watkins.
One month after entering, he went on an expedition to a point on Cheapeake Bay about 12 miles from Chester and served four days.
Was called into active service, Aug 1777, in Capt Watkins' MD company, and was in the battles of Paoli and Germantown.
Discharged just before Christmas 1777
Enlisted again March 1779
Served two or three months in Capt Marmaduke Tilldan's co, Col Alexander Anderson's MD Regt.
Later served 6 or 8 months as assistant to John Batten, Purchasing and Issuing Commissary
