(Near Greenwood - 24 October, 2004) - The INSSAR Color Guard presents arms at the gravesite of Patriot Peter Imel, a drummer with General Morgan's Virginia Riflemen. Peter and his four brothers were allegedly Hessian mercenaries, all of whom deserted shortly after arriving in America.

Buried nearby is Jacob Hosier, ancestor of Color Guard patriarch, Scott Hosier.

Information provided by Jeff Imel of Scranton, PA, grandson of Lester Imel, a descendant of Patriot Peter Imel.
He found the information from "Immel and Imel Families in America - Twigs and Branches of the Immel Family Tree" by Mrs. Keller, ©1974.
The book is a secondary source; here's the link to the introduction.

The book includes the story of Peter Imel and his brothers coming to America and switching sides.
It shows his birth year as 1764, instead of 1754 on the marker stone.
